Breaking Benjamin is an American rock band from Pennsylvania, formed in 1999 by lead vocalist and guitarist Benjamin Burnley. The band’s name originated from Burnley’s habit of breaking music and recording equipment belonging to a producer in earlier years. Breaking Benjamin’s first notable breakthrough came in 2001 after the release of their EP, when WBSX rock radio station’s DJ, Freddie Fabbri, aired their track “Polyamorous”. The track became the top requested song on the station, leading to Fabbri financing the band, selling 2000 EP copies, and later signing up with Hollywood Records in 2002.

Under the mainstream record label, the band released their debut full length album “Saturate,” which reached No. 136 on the Billboard 200 and received a Gold certificate, giving the band their first wave of mainstream success. The band released a further three Platinum certified studio albums before taking a break in 2010 due to Burnley’s prolonged illness. Breaking Benjamin returned to action in 2014 with a new lineup and released their fifth studio album “Dark Before Dawn, " reaching No.1 within the first hour of its pre-order phase.
