For starters, the Queens of R&B is an especially curated series that brings in some of the biggest names in the circuit. These women sang about independence, love, friendship, and more. As a promoter, Monami Entertainment defined it as “a celebration of power, passion, and resilience.” Who better to invoke these words than the top female R&B songstresses of the 90s? This was an era where the mainstream scene was conquered by fierce vocal divas. Now, you can relive the fantastic period and experience the power, thrill, and excitement.
This exhilarating event is co-headlined by top girl groups Xscape and SWV (Sisters With Voices). These two acts conquered the era with iconic classics that not only found incredible commercial success but also became timeless staples enjoyed by many listeners to this day. Emerging in 1991, Atlanta, Georgia-borne group Xscape dominated the scene titles, such as “Just Kickin’ It,” “Who Can I Run To,” “My Little Secret,” and many more. The group dropped three highly acclaimed efforts in a span of five years while being signed to Jermaine Dupri’s So So Def Label.
Meanwhile, Sisters With Voices is regarded as one of the most commercially successful R&B girl groups worldwide. The trio dropped several classics, such as “I’m So Into You,” “Weak,” “You’re the One,” “Rain,” and more. After reuniting in 2005, SWV later dropped two more albums, I Missed Us and Still, both efforts charting in the Billboard 200 and Top R&B Albums.
